A tender temptress beckons to me from afar,
Java, Hawaii, Jamaica, Tahiti, Borneo, and Madagascar.

It’s too far to fly, drive, swim, or ride
If I can walk to an island on the river’s other side.

Islands – you can dream of islands,
Islands of mystery,
But you’ve got a long way to go
To pass the Neva’s archipelago!

Capri, Ceylon, Bahama,
Beaches of golden sand.
Bahamian melodies sound like ours,
It’s just their language that’s hard to understand.
Where can you find our lime trees and low-hanging thunderclouds?
Where else does a river wear a necklace of granite pearls?

Your islands can sparkle
With the ocean’s blue wave,
But it’ll take a miracle
To pass the Neva’s archipelago!

6. ОСТРОВА

Ласковый искуситель манит издалека –
Ява, Гавайи, Ямайка, Таити, Барбадос и Мадагаскар.
Сколько лететь и ехать, плыть и скакать верхом,
Если на остров, на тот или этот, через мост я дойду и пешком.

Острова могут присниться,
Острова загадок полны,
Но с какой тайной сравнится
Обитаемый архипелаг в устье Невы.

Кипр, Цейлон, Багамы – пляж с золотым песком.
Но на Багамах такие же гаммы, только сложности с их языком.
Где есть такие липы, низкие облака?
И ожерелье в оправе гранитной какая носит река?

Острова могут гордиться
Синевой океанской волны,
Но с каким чудом сравнится
Обитаемый архипелаг в устье Невы.
